Officials probe deadly Phoenix crash
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A preliminary report into the cause of the R102 crash in Phoenix that claimed the lives of six people has suggested one of the cars could have been reversing into oncoming traffic.
The Department of Transport in KZN says officials were dispatched to the scene yesterday to find out what exactly happened.
Five people were declared dead at the scene, following the high impact collision between two cars on Saturday.

A sixth teenager died later in hospital.
Department spokesperson, Mluleki Mntungwa says they are hopeful the investigation will be completed by the end of the week.
"The [one] vehicle was reversing and when it was in motion it bumped into an oncoming car. This is the report that we have at this stage but it would be speculative on our part to say what could have led to this crash. That is why we are pleading with the members of the family to be patient and wait for the outcome of the investigation," he said.
