Officials prepare for National Police Day celebrations in Durban
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
National police say it's all systems go ahead of several events planned for Durban this week.
Thousands of officers will descend on the city ahead of National Police Day on Saturday.
The festivities kick-off on Thursday with a golf day at Durban Country Club to raise funds for the SAPS Education Trust.
The trust aims to cover the educational costs of children whose parents have died in the line of duty.
The country's top officers will then be honoured at the fifth Annual National Service Excellence Awards at the Durban ICC on Friday night.
"It's a huge logistical demand for us but I have to say that a lot of work has been put into all three of these events. In terms of planning and preparation, I'd say we are at 99% now. It's just a little tweaking here and there that needs to be finalised," national police spokesperson, Vish Naidoo says.
The main event - National Police Day - will be held at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, west of Durban on Saturday.
