Obama plans for America to save energy
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Barack Obama has put forward a plan to cut America's greenhouse gas emissions by a third come 2030.
Obama says tackling unprecedented carbon dioxide limits is the "the single most important step" America has ever taken to fight climate change.
Sky News reports the president's actions have faced opposition from some who fear the impacts on the US economy.
He has told a White House meeting that there is little choice.
"It's not as if there's nothing we can do about it. We can take action. For the past several years America's been working to use less dirty energy, more clean energy, waste less energy throughout our economy," he said.
