Nzimande: No college registration fees for NSFAS bursary recipients

The Higher Education Minister's delivered some good news for NSFAS bursary recipients.
Blade Nzimande says students won't have to pay registration fees for 2020.
The Minister's been briefing the media on his department's state of readiness for the new academic year.
He says the number of students funded by NSFAS this year has increased. Those who haven't yet applied will be given another opportunity.

The NSFAS process is not closed to those students will be accepted at universities and colleges who might not have applied for NSFAS assistance.
As soon as universities and colleges bring this to our attention, these students will benefit from NSFAS if they qualify.

Nzimande says students from disadvantaged backgrounds will be prioritised for funding. In 2020 the government is providing 34.5 billion Rand to NSFAS to support students from poor and working-class backgrounds in their studies at public TVET colleges and universities.
