Nzimande dissolves NSFAS board
Updated | By Bulletin
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme board has been dissolved.
Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande has also placed the embattled student financial aid scheme under administration.
The announcement follows the resignation of board chair Ernest Khosa.
Nzimande's spokesperson, Veli Mbele, says the minister met with the institution's board members on Thursday to communicate his decision, which will be gazetted on Friday.

"This meeting was part and parcel of a set of interventions the minister had decided to make, to provide the organisational efficiency of NSFAS but also to ensure that NSFAS remains focused on its mandate.
"Then on Sunday, the minister will communicate, through a media briefing, his rationale for the decision."
Earlier this year, the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse demanded resignations from Nzimande and Khosa, alleging they'd received millions of rands in kickbacks from service providers contracted by the scheme.
Nzimande denies the accusation.
