Friends, family and colleagues of slain warrant officers, Siza Nyandeni and Themba Gumede will pay their last respects at a joint memorial services in Nyoni on Thursday.
SAPS leadership in the province made the announcement after visiting both families on the north coast yesterday.
The officers were shot after being overpowered by two suspects during a jailbreak at the Nyoni Police Station last week. They both passed away in hospital.
Provincial commissioner Mmamonye Ngobeni says the incident is being investigated.
"We are to saddened to lose members the way we have been losing them recently. We might not be able to bring back those who have passed on because of the hand of a criminal but we have processes in place in terms of investigation. This responsibility has been assigned to the Hawks and the DPCI," she said.
While the family of Nyandeni say they would have wanted to see the suspects who shot and killed him in court.
Nyandeni's uncle, Ngqungquthela Nyandeni says the family was very proud of him especially his late father.
He says he personally would have loved to see the killers of his nephew repent.
"I think the Almighty Father deemed it fit that they also hanged. That was his way of [intervening]," he said.
Both suspects in the matter, who were brothers aged 18 and 23, were killed during separate shootouts with police.
