She was stabbed on the first day of the new semester on Monday.

It is alleged that the female teacher was stabbed by a 64-year-old man from Tolamo Primary School at Letlhakaneng Village near Brits.

North West Education spokesperson Elias Malindi says the school has been under construction since the last quarter and the pupils were temporarily moved to a community hall.

“It is alleged that the perpetrator forcefully entered the hall and refused neither to sanitise nor to check the temperature. It is reported that when he arrived at the hall, his face was covered with a balaclava.

“He called the victim and went outside whereby arguments ensued between them,” explains Malindi.

She was stabbed multiple times in her neck and back.

“The staff at school managed to rush in to apprehend the culprit and called the police. The injured educator is still in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the local hospital,” says Malindi.

North West Education MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela is expected to visit the school on Tuesday.
