NUMSA holds march against corruption

NUMSA is encouraging its members and affiliates in KZN to stay away from work today.
Thousands of people are expected to take to the streets in Johannesburg today to march against corruption.
Government representatives are expected to receive their memorandum of demands. Spokesperson Castro Ngobese says workers are are the most affected by retrenchments in the industry.
"It is very important that we defend the existing jobs because we cannot allow a situation where in a country which is confronted with a crisis of poverty, unemployment and inequality. All of a sudden, you have workers that are being retrenched by their stubborn bosses.
"Therefore the action is about fighting against corruption," he said.
Strengthening the offices of the Public Protector and Auditor-General are among their demands.
