Number of new Covid-19 cases creeping up again

The country’s COVID-19
recovery rate remains steady.
The figure has been solid at 95% for the past several days.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize revealed the latest coronavirus statistics on Wednesday evening.
The report shows a more rapid rise in new cases.
More than 1500 cases were recorded in the 24 hours leading up to the daily report – almost tripled compared to Monday’s report.
On Monday there were 600 new cases, while there were more than 900 on Tuesday.

The number of cumulative cases sits at 1 532 497 – almost 22 000 of which are active.
KwaZulu-Natal has the highest number of active cases, followed by the Western Cape.
Eastern Cape has the least.
The death toll increased by 74.
“Regrettably, we report a further 74 Covid-19 related deaths: Eastern Cape 1, Free State 15, Gauteng 38, Kwa-Zulu Natal 4, Limpopo 1, Mpumalanga 7, North West 0, Northern Cape 2 and Western Cape 6, which brings the total to 51 634 deaths,” said Mkhize.
The Western Cape has the highest number of fatalities, closely followed by the Eastern Cape.
More than 168 000 healthcare workers have been vaccinated under the Johnson & Johnson plan 3B study.
