Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says the apparent escape of murderer and rapist Thabo Bester has left government red-faced.

Ntshavheni briefed the media on Thursday on this week's cabinet meeting.
Bester, who is known as the Facebook rapist, made a daring escape from Mangaung Correctional Centre last year.
He was thought to have died when a fire broke out in his cell, but it has since emerged it was a ploy to help him escape from custody.

Ntshavheni says the prison, which is a public-private partnership with security company G4S, also needs to return to correctional service's control.
"Earlier this morning, the Department of Correctional Services announced that they have started making preparations for the takeover of those prisons.
"They have already served notices that they are not going to renew contracts for management of those correctional centres. So where are as a government, we going to make sure that incidents of those nature do not repeat themselves."
