Nsfas opens applications, vows to root out corruption

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) has reiterated its commitment to rooting out maladministration and corruption at the skeem.
The student financial aid skeem's books are the subject of an Special Investigative Unit (SIU) probe.
Investigators are examining how it manages its finances, as well as the allocation and distribution of student loans.
Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande says irregular expenditure claims and unlawful conduct are also under the spotlight.

Nsfas on Wednesday morning opened its application season for tertiary students who need funding assistance for the 2023 academic year.
"Nsfas has committed to cooperate fully with the SIU process to ensure that any actions that threaten appropriate provision of funding to deserving students are dealt with and perpetrators are brought to book and I welcome this because we are committed to fighting corruption."
