The 45-year-old man from Ulundi has been charged with six counts of sexual assault of minors - including two of rape and two linked to the sexual grooming of children.

The accused's defence Attorney Wesley Rogers is today expected to finish presenting evidence in court in a bid to have him granted bail.

Rogers lambasted the media last week for what he called 'inaccurate and damaging reporting on the matter' in its initial stage.

Written in a statement by the lawyer, the teacher had denied having had sex with learners - saying it was adult women in the video.

In response, the department said it had confirmed that the girls shown in the videos are pupils.

Rogers is today expected to present in court a YouTube video of an SABC report about his client's first appearance.

The accused also told the court that he intends to plead not guilty.

Meanwhile, the same accused was previously released on R2000 bail for another matter in which he is accused of attempted murder and the possession of an illegal firearm
