NPA's Cronje details key areas of investigation
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
Newly appointed head of the Investigating Directorate of the National Prosecuting Authority, Hermione Cronje says she is aware that confidence needs to be restored in the country's public institutions and state-owned enterprises.

Her mandate specifically includes cases arising from investigations into allegations of state capture.
She says the directorate will focus on serious, high profile and complex cases of corruption.
"Particularly those emanating from the commissions of enquiry into state capture. We have envisioned to focus operations on the following three broad areas - the first is corruption in the security sector - specifically the criminal justice system; the next big focus area will be our state-owned enterprises; and third would be high-level private and public sector corruption," Cronje said.
Prosecutions boss, Shamila Batohi spoke earlier at the media briefing in Pretoria - saying that she's reached out to civil society and the business sector to reverse the effects of years of corrupt behaviour.
