NPA provisionally withdraws charges against Hillary Gardee accused
Updated | By Newswatch
The charges against four men accused of the murder of Hillary Gardee have been provisionally withdrawn.
The 28-year-old daughter of lawyer and former EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee went missing after she went shopping at a supermarket in Nelspruit.
She was found dead outside Nelspruit in May last year, a few days after she was reported missing.
Four men were arrested in connection with her murder.
Philemon Lukhele, Mduduzi Gama, Sipho Mkhatshwa and Rassie Nkuna were in court on Wednesday for trial.
"They were appearing for trial, then during their appearance, it transpired that the key State witnesses in the matter are no longer willing to testify," says Mpumalanga NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa.
"The NPA only heard about it this morning. Then we had no choice but to provisionally withdraw the charges against the four men."
