Charges against uMhlathuze Mayor Xolani Ngwezi have been dropped.

According to the North Coast municipality, the National Prosecuting Authority decided not to enrol in the crimen injuria case.
It cited a lack of evidence as the reason for the decision.
Ngwezi was due to make his first court appearance on Tuesday after the case was opened last week.
