NPA boss, Shaun Abrahams must resign: DA
Updated | By News24
The Democratic Alliance says NPA head Shaun Abrahams must resign amidst controversy over his charging of Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan with fraud.
"Abrahams must withdraw the charges against Gordhan – and resign," said Democratic Alliance MP Glynnis Breytenbach.
The party said it appeared that Abrahams had "ignored vital evidence in his decision to charge… Gordhan" - as well as former SARS commissioner Oupa Magashula and former deputy commissioner Ivan Pillay.

The three men are due to appear in the Pretoria Regional Court on Wednesday on charges of fraud. The charges relate to Gordhan and Magashula having approved early retirement for Pillay in 2010, and then rehiring him on a contract basis.
However, Breytenbach suggested that reports over the weekend indicated that, at the time of Abrahams's decision to charge, "the Hawks had not yet properly completed their investigation, that the docket handed to Abrahams was not complete and lacked vital evidence".
"The only proper thing for Abrahams to do would be to withdraw the charges… admit that he is not up to the task, and resign."
Comment from the NPA was not immediately available.
