Norway's spectacular show of the Northern Lights
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Norwegian stargazers have been treated to an extraordinary cosmic show.
Known as the Aurora Borealis, Northern lights have illuminated the night skies in Norway.
The Lights occur when particles from the Sun hit the Earth's atmosphere, producing a green, blue or red hue.
The lights are a common feature of the Northern Hemisphere but have also been spotted in parts of the US such as Michigan, Missouri and Virginia.
If seen in the southern hemisphere, they are referred to the Southern Lights or the Aurora Australis.
This comes as the Taurid meteor shower - an annual occurrence that lasts from late October into late November - coincided with the new moon last week and therefore reached it's peak.
See magnificent pics of the Northern Lights below.
