Non-payment in part to blame for service delivery issues in Mpofana
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Mpofana Local Municipality says the non-payment for services by its residents is a major contributing factor to the lack of water in the area.
Residents took to the streets yesterday, protesting against the lack of water and electricity and the old infrastructure in the town.
UMgungundlovu District spokesperson Brian Zuma says his offices, the local municipality and Umgeni Water, have met to try and find a solution to the problem.
“But it must be mentioned that for the municipality to be able to invest in maintenance and to replace aging infrastructure, it is important that people pay for services,” he says.
