No treason charges for UCT students: Hawks
Updated | By News24
The students arrested following the protests at Parliament will not face treason charges, the Hawks confirmed today.

"The management of the police and the Hawks would like to set the record straight and dispel such malicious rumours," spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.
Hundreds of University of Cape Town students protesting against tuition fee increases forced their way onto the Parliamentary precinct as Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene delivered his mid-term budget speech yesterday afternoon.
Six students were arrested and are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today on charges of trespassing and contravening the Gatherings Act, Mulaudzi said.
Reverend Frank Chikane tweeted early this morning that his son Rekgotsofetsi (Kgotsi), and at least five others spent the night in jail.
