No South Africans on Egyptian Airline flight

It's been confirmed no South Africans were on board in an Egyptian Airline flight that's gone missing.

EgyptAir says the passenger plane made no distress or mayday call before communications were lost.


The Airbus A-320 was heading to Cairo from Paris with 56 passengers and 10 crew members on board.


EgyptAir suspects the aircraft could have crashed in the Mediterranean Sea.

EgyptAir says in a statement that two helicopters are on standby with rescue teams that have reached the last points of communications. 


The Egyptian National Airline has confirmed the nationalities of passengers. 


A total of 30 are Egyptians, 15 are French, there were also nationals from Britain, Belgium and Algeria on board. 


At the Cairo International Airport the airline says it is providing a number of doctors, translators and all necessary services to the families of the passengers.
