Management at Durban's Blue Waters Hotel says no disruptions were caused to operations as a result of yesterday's fire.
The blaze broke out in a passage after the transformer blew causing emergency services to evacuate staff and hotel guests.
Technicians from eThekwini Municipality's electricity department worked throughout the night to ensure power was restored to the hotel which had been running on a generator since the explosion.

It's understood that while most of the damage is superficial to the structure, costs including that of the transformer, are expected to exceed R1 million.
Hotel management on site say no rooms were affected, only several passage windows that were blown out.
Briefing the media at the hotel yesterday, Durban Fire's Justin Bateman said the smoke would take some time to phase out.
"The smoke likes to stick around, especially oil smoke, a very dense smoke. We are going to have to open windows and ventilate the premises for people who might have asthma or conditions like that," he said.
The hotel has thanked the guests for their patience, they have also thanked all emergency services involved for their speedy response.
