No liquor sales allowed on Youth Day

There will be no alcohol on sale tomorrow according to the Economic Development Department in the province.

As South Africa observes Youth Day - all liqor outlets must be shut in accordance to level three lockdown regulations.


The department has been making unannounced visits to outlets around the province to check on their COVID-19 compliance as well as their permits.


Ndabezinhle Sibiya from Edtea, says over the past two weeks inspectors with law enforcement agencies visited 1 447 liquor traders across the province.

They confirm that some outlets were closed down for the violation of COVID-19 regulations and some arrests were made.
