Faika Esop Ali from Hillary was last seen by her family in February 2007.

Four year ago, her one-time boyfriend was arrested and charged with her murder despite the fact that Ali's body had never been found.

But the charges were later dropped and the court ordered an inquest - which Magistrate Irfaan Khallil presided over.

In delivering his findings today, Khalil said no clues as to what happened to Ali had come to light nor was there anything to show why her body - if she was dead - hadn't been found.

"Nothing surfaces in the evidence to suggest that Miss Ali had taken her own life or become the victim of an accident or attack. As a matter of probability, any such reasons seem remote when no information could be claimed from the police, hospitals, or mortuary.

"The mystery as to the whys and wherefores of Ali's disappearance still persist. That in itself cannot serve as a basis for excluding all explanations - save that of death," Khalil said.
