No COVID fatalities in North West for second consecutive day

The North West has not recorded any new Covid-19 fatalities for a second consecutive day.

Health minister Zweli Mkhize released the latest coronavirus report on Wednesday night. 

On Tuesday North West and Mpumalanga were in the clear. 

This time, it was North West and Limpopo.

“Regrettably, we report a further 110 Covid-19 related deaths: Eastern Cape 5, Free State 61, Gauteng 12, Kwa-Zulu Natal 7, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 7, North West 0, Northern Cape 1 and Western Cape 17,” said Mkhize. 

 

The death toll rose to 49 523 in the 24-hours leading up to Wednesday.

Almost a year after the first case hit South Africa, the country has recorded more than 1 500 000 cumulative cases. 

 

The recovery rate remained steady at 94%, putting the number of active cases above 35 000. 

 

KwaZulu-Natal has the highest active cases, while the Eastern Cape has the highest number of deaths.  


Gauteng leads the pack with the most recoveries.
