Opposition parties - the ANC, EFF, UDM and AIC walked out of today's council meeting - after the Patriotic Alliance switched allegiance - and sided once again with Trollip.

Last week - the PA was in discussion with the opposition alliance - plotting to unseat Trollip.

But that plan came to an abrupt end when the the EFF reportedly labelled the PA a bunch of fraudsters and thugs.

At a hastily convened press briefing following the adjournment of today's council meeting - the Patriotic Alliance's Marlon Daniels apologised for the drama and the role he'd played in it.

"Indeed, there has been a lot of issues in our view around the coalition. Like I've said in the past, we too have found ourselves in a position where you walk away from your partners for some reason or another only to kiss and make up later," he said.
