No concrete actions to end load shedding, says expert

An energy expert says the government needs to
set into motion a concrete plan of action for the country to see a decrease in
load shedding this year.

The demand for electricity has increased this week as businesses return to full operation.
Eskom announced that load shedding would be escalated to stage 6 on Tuesday night.
It further announced that the stage would be implemented between 4pm and 5am everyday until further notice.
Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented outside of those hours.

Energy expert Chris Yelland says it's possible to see a significant change in loadshedding if we stop talking about the problem and act on it.
"The president announced his emergency plan, not yesterday or Sunday, he announced it six months ago and he presented it to the public. But now it's six months later and they are talking about it, but we are not seeing a lot of concrete actions on the ground.
"So the fact that we are not hearing what is being done and not seeing what is being done, but we are experiencing ongoing load shedding without any improvement, in fact, it's getting worse. This proves that they are still talking about and not taking enough action to make a difference."
