Nkandla roads to get R2.4 bn facelift

KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport and Community Safety's set aside more than R2.4 billion for road infrastructure projects in Nkandla, in northern KZN.

The department says routes will be upgraded and re-gravelled, and potholes fixed, among other things.
MEC Peggy Nkonyeni says hundreds of jobs will be created.

She's called on community leaders to identify the areas that need Bailey bridges to connect underprivileged communities with social services.
"We have actually budgeted R2.4 billion for nine roads that are supposed to be constructed in this area. We are hopeful that within a short space of time people of this area will be very happy about the performance of the Department of Transport."
