Nkandla committee adopts Nhleko's report

The Nkandla ad hoc committee has officially adopted Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko's report that President Jacob Zuma will not have to pay back public money spent on his Nkandla home.

Nhleko’s report contradicted that of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.

She found Zuma had to repay a reasonable portion of the R246-million spent on upgrades to his home that were not related to security.

Meanwhile, Zuma's knowledge of economic matters and exactly what is going on in the country came under fire during yesterday's question and answer session in the National Assembly.

Opposition parties accused him of waffling and of simply not knowing the answers to some of the questions posed.

The DA leader, Mmusi Maimane says it has become clear that Zuma refuses to be held accountable.

"He came and gave wishy washy answers on key matters - accountability on economy, accountability on Al-Bashir and accountability to matters that speak to his own private residence," he said.

EFF leader, Julius Malema also highlighted this matter, saying Zuma does not know anything.

"The man doesn't know what is happening in this company called South Africa yet he calls himself a CEO and continues to earn a salary of CEO but he knows nothing," he said.
