Nine-year-old mauled to death in dog attack
KZN police have described the terrifying moment a Waterfall woman who tried to save her nine-year-old sister who was mauled to death - apparently by the family’s dog.
The incident occurred at their home in Leslie Road on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the sister - who's in her 20s - had gone to put a plate in the sink when she heard her sibling’s screams from the lounge.

"When she went back to check, she discovered that the child was being held by the dog by the neck.
"She tried to pull the dog but the dog resisted until she pressed the panic button and security arrived. It was too late because the child had already died," she says.
The dog was then taken by the SPCA.
