Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A 9-year-old girl has been killed after an alleged hijacking in Shallcross, near Chatsworth south of Durban.

The incident took place outside a school in Himalaya Drive this morning.
Initial indications are that the girl and her father were hijacked. The suspects then drove off while she was still in the vehicle.
An exchange of sorts ensued and the girl sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says she was rushed to hospital in a private vehicle but died as a result of the severe injuries she sustained.
