Details around what caused the driver to lose control at the wheel are still sketchy at this point. According to ER24 when emergency services arrived they found the vehicle had come to rest on its roof near a road side barrier. The service's Werner Vermaak says the occupants, all men between the ages of 30 and 40 were found around the vehicle.

"Paramedics found one person who was critically hurt. He was rushed through to Northdale Hospital while the other 8 were found with several lacerations and other moderate injuries and were taken through to Greys Hospital for further care," he said.

"It is understood the driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with a barrier causing it to overturn. The construction workers explained to paramedics that they were on their way to a nearby site when the accident happened," Vermaak said.

"Local authorities did attend to the incident and traffic was not severely affected due to this incident," he said.
