NGOs have one month to apply for Arts Dept grant
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Non- Profit organisations focused in the fields of drama, dance, music and visual arts, amongst others, have exactly a month to apply for funding from the provincial Arts and Culture Department.
MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi says nearly R2 million has been set aside for this through the Grant-in-Aid programme.
Some 42 organisations will be funded on condition that they are registered on the department's database and meet the requirements.
Sithole-Moloi says the grant is part of the departments' efforts to boost artists and the provinces's culture sector while also creating jobs.
''When we give them this grant with the maximum of R50 000 allocated per organisation then KZN Arts and Culture Council will assist and monitor that they manage these funds and they do ensure these funds are utilised for what it has been applied for,'' she said.
