Jerusalem NGO says Israel ‘unlikely’ to comply with order to stop war
Updated | By Newswatch
A legal advisor at the Jerusalem-based organisation NGO Monitor believes the Israeli government is unlikely to comply with any court judgment ordering it to halt hostilities against Hamas.

South Africa and Israel are at the International Court of Justice in the Hague on Thursday and Friday.
It is seeking an order forcing Israel to suspend its military operations in Gaza, accusing the country of genocidal acts there.

Robed officials from both countries will go head-to-head in the Great Hall of Justice in the Peace Palace.
Anne Herzberg says Israel is likely to argue that the war began with Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.
"The first provisional measure asked for by South Africans Is that Israel stops fighting altogether.
"Now, I don't think the court is going to make a finding off that. However, if they do, I expect that Israel will ignore that cause Israel has rights under international law to prosecute this war. It’s a war in response to Hamas's genocide of the Jewish people."
