NFP requests nomination requirement extension
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The National Freedom Party says it's going to ask the Independent Electoral Commission to extend the submission deadline for nomination requirements for the elections.

The IEC's lifted the party's suspension, which means it can contest the May polls.
The commission, last year, halted the party's activities due to internal leadership squabbles.
The organisation was given until March to choose a legitimate leader.

The NFP's Canaan Mdletshe says while they welcome the commission's decision, they're going to need more time to submit their candidate lists.
The deadline is next Friday.
"The NFP is going to contest the elections like all other political parties. It is good news and it means we have an opportunity to convince the electorate that we are a party that can be trusted."
