News anchor mocks Education Minister's pronunciation
A video showing a news anchor mocking Minister Angie Motshekga's pronunciation has sparked a debate on social media, soliciting an apology from the news station. Watch it here.
eNCA has taken to Twitter to share an apology after senior news anchor, Andrew Barnes was criticised for making fun of how Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga pronounced 'epitome'.
In the video taken during an insert on the matric results, Barnes says: "Maybe someone should have a word with the Basic Education minister about how to pronounce the word ‘epitome’."
Many took to Twitter to point out that Barnes had mispronounced her surname during the bulletin.
Real estate agent Penny Sparrow, mobile gym owner Justin van Vuuren as well as economist Chris Hart have recently all come under fire for discriminatory posts.
While government employee, Velaphi Khumalo may face disciplinary action following racial slurs on Facebook.
