Newlands fire claims lives of four, including two children
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Two children - a boy and a girl - aged 2 and 5 respectively have been among four who lost their lives during a house fire in Newlands West, in Durban.

It's unclear what started the blaze which engulfed the home they were in. When Life Response paramedics arrived they found eThekwini firefighters were already on scene and had extinguished the blaze.
The medical emergency service's Leon Fourie says there was nothing more that could be done to save the two children and the two adults who were trapped inside.
"Upon further investigation we found that there were four occupants who died in the fire", he said.
"Victims of the fire included a 2 year-old boy, a 5 year-old girl, a 24 year-old female and a 38 year-old male all who were burnt quite badly", Fourie said.
