She's told the High Court in Pretoria that she's a well-known personality and isn't comfortable giving evidence in front of the cameras.

The State's Advocate George Baloyi explained her reasons to the court on Monday morning, when she was due to start her stint in the witness box.

"She has to perform in public from time to time, and if these proceedings are carried live there's a possibility to form perceptions regarding her evidence and that when she performs publicly, her life might be endangered.”

The defence lawyers for all five of the accused have opposed the application.

Advocate Zandile Mshololo, who represents accused number five, argued the witness cannot use safety as her reason to stop any form of broadcast.

Mshololo says the witness has publicly put up social media posts about her.

“I myself, as the defence council for accused number five, had been posted on Instagram and all social media by the same witness. I will ask this court to adjourn right now so I can print all the statements that this witness has made about myself."
