New rule on disruptions for KZN ANC conference
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says its eThekwini regional conference will be held in October.
The party's provincial secretary, Sihle Zikalala says preparations for the conference have resumed.
It has been postponed three times with James Nxumalo and Zandile's Gumede's camps at loggerheads.
They are both vying for the position of chairperson.
Zikalala says the Provincial Executive Committee has adopted rules to deal with 'ill discipline'.
"Your offences is this regard include disruption of BGMs, carrying weapons in meetings, insults in meetings and singing derogatory songs. Given the work that is done by the PEC and the NEC, the PEC is confident that the conference will proceed as planned," he said.
The provincial conference, due to be held in May next year, will now be held before the end of November to avoid clashing with the 2016 local government elections.
