A Darnall woman says she is beyond happy after she successfully delivered triplets at Stanger Hospital this week. Thirty-one-year-old Owethu Macebo had to spend a month in the hospital, under the watchful eye of doctors as her pregnancy had some challenges.
Health MEC for KwaZul-Natal Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, has congratulated Macebo and also thanked the team from Stanger Hospital.
He has also congratulated both the family and the hospital.
“We are very excited. We want to congratulate the family and the hospital that these triplets were born at 33 weeks, which is not really the time of giving birth. You still need another month to go, but something happened and these babies were born,” he says, “To be born at a small weight, and early in life like that, at a hospital with the best facilities is another thing that is wonderful. We are confident - in fact, certain - that these triplets will do well at Stanger Hospital, because this facility has one of the best neonatal care units.”
All three were boys and they came weighing in at 1.75kg, 1.7kg and 1.5kg with the operation lasting nearly an hour.
