New Covid-19 cases rise by over 21 000, 265 new deaths

The number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa has risen to 2 179 297.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Saturday evening that 21 610 new coronavirus cases had been recorded since its previous report.
This increase represents a 28% positivity rate.
The death toll has climbed to 64 138, with 265 new deaths reported.
Gauteng accounts for 50% of new cases, with the Western Cape accounting for 11%, Limpopo 10%, and KwaZulu-Natal 9%.
There has been an increase of 580 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
Over the latest reporting period, 16 500 vaccinations have been administered.
The cumulative number of vaccinations administered in the country now stands at 4 225 021.
