New Covid-19 cases rise by over 12 000, 334 new deaths

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 2 447 454.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Saturday evening that 12 528 new coronavirus cases had been recorded since its previous report.
This increase represents a 22.3% positivity rate.
The majority of new cases reported are from Western Cape (27%), followed by Gauteng (22%), while KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 18%.
The death toll has climbed to 72 013, with 334 new deaths reported.
A total of 15 923 people are currently admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19 related complications.
By Saturday evening, more than 7.5 million vaccines had been administered nationwide.
