New chatbot 'Chomi' aims to curb GBV
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
With the country trying to find ways to curb the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide, technology is offering a possible solution.

The Shout-It-Now organisation has launched a WhatsApp Chatbot called 'Chomi' following the presidential summit on GBV in November.
The non-profit organisation says the establishment of the chatbot is to facilitate the prevention of GBV nationwide.
The organisation's Zonja Penzhorn says 'Chomi' delivers and disseminates essential information pertaining to GBV and gives options to survivors.
She says it is a safe space and completely confidential.
"You will have access to information streams, emergency assistance, facts about GBV, reporting the violence, what to do if you have been raped, counselling support, legal assistance, safety planning, woman shelters and also the ability to connect you to support services."
Their WhatsApp number is 082 229 6251.
