KwaZulu-Natal's emergency response units have been given a major boost, with the delivery of new ambulance vehicles.
The Health Department unveiled 89 new, fully equipped ambulances at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium today.
The fleet will be deployed across the province to assist EMS practitioners on the ground.
Officials say they now have close to 400 ambulances across the province.

MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo says the new ambulances will help improve healthcare services in the province.
"There's going to be a policy that talks to streamlining the emergency medical services in the whole country. Emergency help must be for every South African irrespective of whether you have money or no money in the pocket.
Dhlomo says private ambulances are needed in far-flung districts.
"That's the issue, we should drum in the minds of many of us. Those are the things that should be up for discussion," Dhlomo said.
