Nersa says Eskom can raise tariffs in 2017/18
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
The National Energy Regulator will allow Eskom to increase tariffs by 2.2%.
Nersa chairperson, Jacob Modise, says the power utility will be allowed to collect revenue of just over R205-billion in the coming financial year.

Modise says today's announcement is good news for under pressure consumers, considering the increases of 9.4% and 12.7% over the last two years.
However, he has warned that today's hike is not a done deal.
"The average increase in municipal tariffs will be much, much lower this year. However, rather than raise people's hopes - a lot depends on whether or not Eskom does come back and make an application," he said.
