Nehawu gives Mtolo 48 hours to retract comments blaming it for poor service delivery
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Trade union Nehawu in KZN has fired back at comments that unions are to blame for the problems at government institutions like SASSA and Home Affairs.
ANC provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo suggested that Nehawu members are the ones responsible for the poor service people receive at places like public hospitals:
"When you get to Home Affairs seeking a death certificate, and you are not given attention by the staff, that's Nehawu. When ambulances take time to get to your home, the delay behind that is Nehawu,” Mtolo said while addressing party supporters in Kokstad over the weekend.
It comes after Nehawu criticised the government of national unity at a meeting in Boksburg last week.

Nehawu’s deputy secretary, Ntokozo Nxumalo, says Mtolo's comments are reckless.
“He has made it his business for the past few years to use every platform that he gets to insult Nehawu and its members as he has done last week when he was addressing an ANC gathering at his hometown.
“So as Nehawu, we have given Mr Mtolo 48 hours to respond or to withdraw his utterances."
