Nehawu backs Xolile George amid salary furore

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) has given its backing to Xolile George as Secretary to Parliament.
The union, which represents workers at the legislature, was commenting on a report in the Sunday Times on a 70% salary jump granted to George.
The salary review saw George’s annual pay nearly double from R2.6 million to R4.4 million.

There have been calls for an inquiry.
Parliament has defended the move, saying the decision was above board.
Nehawu says George has already proven himself capable of leading Parliament, unlike some of his predecessors.
