Ndlovu not crucial witness in Meyiwa trial, says NPA

The National Prosecuting Authority insists the late Brigadier Philani Ndlovu was not regarded as a crucial witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Ndlovu, who is a former head of detectives in Gauteng, was one of the first people of the scene of the murder.
He was due to give testimony in the murder trial in two weeks’ time.
“His role was limited to his presence at the place of the incident and the management of the crime scene,” says the NPA’s Lumka Mahanjana.
“It should be noted that his statement had not been obtained by the investigators. There are several other witnesses who will give relevant evidence on the merits of the case.”
Mahanjana says the NPA remains confident of a successful trial.
Proceedings are due to resume in the High Court in Johannesburg on 30 May.
