NCT woodchip mill fire finally extinguished
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The fire at NCT Forestry's woodchip mill in Richards Bay has finally
been extinguished.

The blaze, which started 11 days ago, burned through two stockpiles.
Firefighters worked tirelessly to tackle the flames and prevent them from spreading to businesses nearby.
There were environmental concerns when smoke blew into the residential area of Arboretum, and dozens of dead fish were found in the Mzingazi Canal.

The NCT's Danny Knoesen says all these issues will be addressed.
"A little bit of smoldering, which we can comfortably manage on-site. All our focus now is on recovery, and that includes doing everything we can to mitigate the situation with the water run, and we have a lot of resources on that right now."
