NCR warns against 'fake credit providers'
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The National Credit Regulator has warned people to be aware of 'fake credit providers'.

The NCR says it knows that January is a tough month financially for many and that people are struggling to pay for bills and groceries.
Jacqueline Peters has warned people to keep away from unregistered money lenders.
"In the beginning of the year, we understand that people are going through tough times and that extra money is very much welcomed but if it is too good to be true and your instincts are telling you that something is amiss, avoid it," Peters says, "Only get credit from registered entities. Registered entities will always do an affordability assessment on you and they will not ask you to pay money upfront".
