National bus strike: Hopes that unions accept current offer
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Two bus employer associations say they hope the channels of negotiations will be re-opened soon in an effort to bring the ongoing bus strike over wages to an end.
Bus drivers from a number of unions went on strike on Wednesday - crippling commuter services and long-distance travel this Easter.
The unions are demanding a pay increase of between 12 and 15%.
Negotiations deadlocked on Wednesday night when the CCMA proposed a 9% increase and unions demanded 10%.

The spokesperson for employer associations COBEO and SABEA, Meko Magida, says they are willing to consider the bargaining council's deal.
"We hope that they reconsider their position and accept this offer which could mean that we have a deal if both parties accept that 9%," he said.
